Editorial Review :: A Shark Injector is a handheld flash programming device for BMW automobiles. The Shark Injector is the brainchild of BMW Motronic expert Jim Conforti. Jim started programming EEPROM chips for BMWs back in 1992. What started out as a hobby quickly turned in to a full time job. Prior to OBDII in 1996, all software for BMWs was on a replaceable EEPROM chip. Jim was the first person to showcase a flash tuning solution for modern BMWs back in 1996. The list of people successfully flashing BMW DMEs today is still really small due to the complexity of the coding. Jim saw flash programming as the wave of the future, so he sold off interests in the EEPROM chips and focused his efforts to flash the DME instead. He has spent weeks on the dyno with each flash to ensure he has extracted the most available horsepower safely. Not only is Jim concerned with power, he is a man who loves driveability. He has remapped the throttle response, rev limiter, speed limiter and a bunch of other points including the Vanos points. This leaves your car with better driveability than it left Germany with, and more power. You will need to use a minimum of 91 octane fuel to take full advantage of the changes.

I recently purchased a 1994 318is, so I got this and a Haynes manual. The color photos are nice, and the material is easily understandable. Covers both basic and advanced projects. Between this and the Haynes, I usually can figure it out. If you plan on doing most of the work yourself, this is a good addition. BTW, the shipping from smokymtnbooks was a tad slow, but the item itself was in good shape.
